N.C. State’s 3rd Annual Polar Plunge for
Special Olympics North Carolina
Date: February 2nd, 2008 (Groundhog Day!)
Registration Time: 9:00 am
The Polar Plunge:
On February 2nd, 2008, North Carolina State University will be holding its 3rd annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics North Carolina! This event will kick off the N.C. State Police Department’s fundraising efforts for the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Those souls who brave the cold water will be rewarded with a warm tent to dry off in and hot chili to feast on after the event. And everyone will have an opportunity to donate at the event, as well as shop around in our bake sale, so remember to bring a bit of cash!
Participation:
The participants in the Polar Plunge must collect at least $50.00 in donations to be given the chance to jump into Lake Raleigh in the middle of winter. They can do this by getting people to sponsor them, and the easiest way is through the www.firstgiving.com/sonc website, where people can donate securely online to those they wish to sponsor.
Awards:
A t-shirt will be given for participation. Awards will be given out for the youngest plunger, the oldest plunger, the best costume, the largest group to plunge, and the individual who raises the most money. Raffle prizes from local businesses will be given out following the plunge.
Businesses and groups will be given the opportunity to sponsor the event. Sponsorship levels are as follows:
All checks should be made payable to Special Olympics North Carolina. The deadline for Sponsorship (to be printed on the t-shirt) is January 9, 2008. All contributions are tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt for your donation.
