1. Purpose

The application process is the facilitation of the processing of applications for SPA (Staff) positions.

2. Covered Employees

Applicants for SPA (Staff) vacancies are covered by this policy.

3. Procedures

3.1. Application - Individuals interested in permanent SPA (Staff) employment must file an Employment Application with Human Resources. Departments may not accept employment applications or resumes other than those referred by Employment Services.

3.2. Consideration - There is a seven-day application period during which applicants may request consideration for vacancies listed in STAFF VACANCIES.

Vacancies designated RIF (Reduction-in-Force) Priority in the job listing are available to the general public only if a qualified candidate is not available among state employees who have been reduced-in-force or removed from policy-making exempt positions within the last year.

3.3. Screening and Referral - An employment Specialist evaluates each applicant's education, experience, and skills in relation to job requirements. Preferred job requirements also are used to evaluate candidates. Previous work record, availability, and Affirmative Action data are also determining factors. Applications are referred to the hiring department based on this evaluation.
