1. Recruitment
The Extension Personnel Office handles recruitment for all
County Director and Agent vacancies. Interviewing and selection
is handled by Extension Administration, the District
Extension Director, and, where appropriate, the County Extension
Director.
2. Qualifications
The candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree as noted in the
vacancy announcement with (1) a cumulative grade point average of
2.5 overall or a 3.0 in the major field of study (based on a
4.0 scale), or completion of a Master's degree, (2) personal
automobile and valid driver's license, (3) skill in oral and
written communications, and (4) ability to work effectively with
people. A Master's Degree is preferred. The Recruiting
Brochures available from Extension Personnel provide additional
information; copies should be accessible in each County Center
for potential candidates.
3. Salary
Once requirements are met, beginning salary is based on the
level of degrees (i.e. Masters, Doctorate) and related
professional experience. Contact the District Extension Director
for further information.
4. Getting the New Employee on the Payroll
The District Extension Director is responsible for forwarding
the necessary forms to Extension Personnel as soon as possible
following the hiring decision.
5. Verification of Employment Eligibility
County Directors are required to verify identity and
eligibility for employment of all new EPA employees. Prior to
finalizing all appointments, the County Director must review
documentation and provide certification of identity and
eligibility for employment and forward to the Extension
Personnel Office via the I-9 form.
