September 18, 1998 Archive Version (Effective September 18, 1998 through February 18, 1999) - Amend Section 2.5 to provide for more effective and efficient personnel practices; amend 9.2.1 to conform to UNC GA memo randa increasing number of leave days of employees.

February 19, 1999 Archive Version (Effective February 19, 1999 through February 16, 2000) - amended to reflect changes to the definition of Senior Academic and Administrative Officer as revised by UNC General Administration.

February 17, 2000 Archive Version (Effective February 17, 2000 through February 21, 2002) - amended section 3.2.2 to change the wording to "Chancellor or her designee" to maintain consistency with current Board of Trustees policies.

February 22, 2002 Archive Version (Effective February 22, 2002 through May 21, 2002) - Amended policy to bring into compliance with the University of North Carolina's recently revised policy on SAAO Tier I and IIs and its policy on EPA annual and sick leave. In addition, modified section 1 to address the scope of the policy and definitions of EPA positions to provide guidance to all EPA employees. All other revised sections within the policy are for editorial clarification and/or conformity to the wording within the Board of Governor's policy.

May 22, 2002 Archive Version (Effective May 22, 2002 through February 19, 2004) - Editorial Correction to Section 3.2 regarding the amount of termination notice the university must provide to term contract EPA employees.

February 20, 2004 Archived Version (Effective February 20, 2004 through June 5, 2007) – The UNC Board of Governors mandates that all campus Board of Trustees establish a retreat rights policy. This policy has been revised to incorporate the Board of Governor’s directive. The first revision in Section 3.1.1 allows for severance payments in lieu of notice for at will EPA employees when it is in the best interest of the University. Any agreement to compensate the employees in excess of the defined terms must be approved by the Board of Trustees. The second revision in Section 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 address retreat rights for an administrative EPA employee with and without a concurrent tenured faculty appointment.

June 6, 2007 Current Version - Revised Sections: 1.2.4 to incorporate the BOGs definition of covered SAAO Tier II positions; 3.1.1 to reflect accurately UNC Policy 300.2.1 on timely notice that shall be given for discontinuance of service; and 8.2.1.1.1 to incorporate the BOG policy on SAAO Tier I and II regarding annual leave entitlement.
