October 3, 2002 Archived Version (Effective October 3, 2002 through April 21, 2005) - Minor changes made to sections: 5.1a, 5.1.2c, 5.5, 6.4, 6.5.4, 7 and 7.1 pursuant to direction from Gretchen Bataille, Office of the President. See memorandum from Chancellor Fox to Gretchen Bataille dated September 12, 2002.

April 22, 2005 Archived Version (Effective April 22, 2005 though November 17, 2005) – Revised to (1) incorporate six realms of faculty responsibility and to require the Departmental Voting Faculty vote in hiring and promoting special faculty with professional rank; (2) allow initial tenure-track appointments to vary from exactly four years to allow the end dates to coincide with RPT cycles and thereby avoid adjustments later; (3) to have negative cases stop at the Provost and thus allow grievances to go to the Chancellor rather than the BOT; and (4) minor edits to improve language for clarity.

November 18, 2005 Archived Version (Effective November 18, 2005 through April 27, 2006) - Revised to incorporate delegation from the Chancellor to the Deans the authority to appoint and reappoint tenure-track faculty and appoint academic department heads. These were previously delegated to the Provost. Revised sections are 5.1.2.b., 6.4.4. and 6.5.2.

April 28, 2006 Archived Version (Effective April 28, 2006 through March 5, 2007) Policy revisions included: 1) 2004-2005 URPTC recommended and 2005-2006 URPTC reaffirmed that a revision to section 5.1.2.c is needed so it is clear that a faculty member may be reconsidered in their final contract year if they have been denied tenure and promotion. 2) Clarification of tenure contingency for faculty members who do not hold U.S. citizenship. Created new section 5.5 and old 5.5 became 5.6. 3) Language addition required in Section 6.5 to confirm that DVF remain in “Need to know” status throughout entire RPT process and therefore our practice of sharing recommendations and assessments by the head, CRPTC and dean are permitted. Created a new section 6.5.5. to do this.

March 6, 2007 Archived Version (Effective March 6, 2007 through April 19, 2007) – Revised section 8.5 in the last sentence that refers to section 501 C (4) of The Code. The BOG repealed this section. Corrected typographical error referencing the applicable procedures section of The Code. Section 603 changed to Section 605.

April 20, 2007 Archived Version (Effective April 20, 2007 through May 13, 2007) Revisions made to: Section 5.3 renumbering to 5.2.3. to make it clear that Federal employees with academic rank are Special Faculty; and Section 8.5 Last sentence refers to section 501 C (4) of The Code. The BoG repealed this section. Appeals to the BoT in 603 discharges are governed by Section 603 of The Code which expressly allows appeals to the BoG.

May 14, 2007 Archived Version (Effective May 14, 2007 through February 21, 2008) - Revised section 6.6.2 to stipulate the authority delegated to the Provost in Section 6 of the Delegation of Authority REG01.20.01 as the Chancellor's designee for purposes of providing notification of non-reappointment of regular faculty members.

February 22, 2008 Current Version - Clarifies that the Provost has final approval for non-reappointments. Edit to section 6.5.2 fixes an oversight when the language was previously changed to make the Deans the final decision makers for positive reappointments and the Provost the final decision maker for all negative decision cases. This was done to allow the Chancellor to be the one to whom appeals come. This additional edit merely clarifies that the negative reappointment cases do NOT stop at the dean, but do go on to the Provost. This is how we have been operating for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 cycles.
