As an agency of the state of North Carolina, NC State University is required to follow various federal and state laws and regulations, as well as policies and regulations of the University of North Carolina.

1. PURPOSE

1.1. Pre-employment testing is conducted to:

1.1.1. Ensure applicants for safety-sensitive duties are not using controlled substances and

1.1.2. Ensure that applicants for some administrative positions meet skill requirements.

2. COVERED INDIVIDUALS

2.1. Applicants for SPA (staff) vacancies are covered by this policy.
