As an agency of the state of North Carolina, NC State University is required to follow various federal and state laws and regulations, as well as policies and regulations of the University of North Carolina.

1. Purpose

Reclassification is the assignment of a position to a different classification. The new classification may be higher, lower or at the same salary grade.

2. Covered Employees

Full time and part-time permanent SPA (Staff) employees, persons in time-limited appointments, trainees, and probationary employees are covered by this policy.
