As an agency of the state of North Carolina, NC State University is required to follow various federal and state laws and regulations, as well as policies and regulations of the University of North Carolina.

1. PURPOSE

A permanent employee may receive performance salary increases as dictated by legislation specifying funding and selection criteria. Details on criteria are communicated to the campus through Human Resources.

The basis for a salary increase is an appraisal of an employee’s work performance. An employee’s performance is evaluated not only individually but also in relation to other employees within the appropriate work unit.

2. COVERED EMPLOYEES

Full time and part-time permanent SPA (Staff) employees, trainees, and persons in time-limited appointments are covered by this policy.
