As an agency of the state of North Carolina, NC State University is required to follow various federal and state laws and regulations, as well as policies and regulations of the University of North Carolina.

1. Purpose

This policy provides the procedures for carrying out a separation of employment form the state. It also defines the benefits accruing to the separating employee and the employee's obligation.

2. Covered Employees

All SPA (Staff) employees and persons employed by North Carolina State agencies are covered by this policy.
