1. Regulation:

Currently enrolled NCSU students, who have paid the University health fee, are eligible to use Student Health Services (SHS). SHS will also see certain other people such as visitors, staff for occupational medicine, and "continuing students." Procedures clarify who is eligible, dates of eligibility, and exceptions.

1.1. FALL AND SPRING SEMESTERS

Fall Semester students are eligible from check-in day until first day of Spring Semester classes.
*Exception: Newly enrolling students who come to SHS for immunizations should be told we prefer they receive immunizations from their personal physician, a public health department or an urgent care center; if it would be a hardship to obtain them elsewhere, the student may receive immunizations here. There will be no summer session fee required but the student will pay for the immunizations.
Spring Semester students are eligible from check-in day until first day of summer school.

1.2. SUMMER SESSIONS- Registered Students

Students registered for Summer School are entitled to all University services, including the use of the Student Health Services during the session(s) they are registered. Eligibility dates are from the first day of summer session classes to last day of exams.

1.3. SUMMER SESSIONS- Non-Registered Continuing Students

Students not enrolled in Summer School but enrolled in the previous Spring Semester or are pre-registered or intend to register for the upcoming Fall Semester may pay a Summer Session health fee to be seen at SHS. This fee is non-refundable.

1.6. EXCEPTIONS

1.6.1 Students who are prescribed Depo-Provera or oral contraceptives by SHS, were enrolled during Spring Semester, and plan to enroll in the fall semester, may use SHS for continuation of their contraceptive only. Patients seen late in the spring semester may be allowed one courtesy follow-up visit or prescription refill upon provider approval/request. To be seen for any other reason would require payment of the Summer Session health fee. If patient starts a series of tests or shots late in a semester and needs to finish them in the next semester when not enrolled, they will only pay for services received.

1.6.2. Graduate students, who were enrolled in Spring Semester but not summer, and are engaged on campus doing research, etc., may pay a session health fee to be seen at SHS during the summer. Many TA/RA's on BCBS student insurance will be enrolled in the summer and be eligible for services.

1.6.3. Graduated students in May may pay the summer session fee to be eligible after graduation.

1.6.4. New fall graduate students who are academically working on campus in the summer may pay a Summer Session health fee, plus any ancillary charges incurred.

1.7. Individuals attending University-sponsored short courses, camps, institutes, Upward Bound, Transitions, and USDA Challenge Grant may pay a Summer health fee to be eligible for basic treatment and services for duration of the scheduled course/institute/camp, or pay per visit, and pay ancillary charges. The sponsoring organization will be billed for the fee.

1.8.
Visitors injured on campus may receive emergency medical care at SHS. Students attending University-sponsored activities, such as orientation, WolfCamp and open house, are treated and charged the usual user charges but no summer session's fee.

1.9. Having BCBS student insurance does not give eligibility to SHS. The insurance is in effect outside SHS even when student is no longer eligible to use SHS due to graduation, withdrawal or taking a semester off.

1.10. All non-registered student exceptions that pay special fees and charges are to pay by cash, check or charge card. Their charges are not to be transferred to the University Cashier's Office.

1.11. Questions should be referred to the Director or Assistant Director or to provider for continuity of care questions.
