Our Mission

Freshwater Mussels

Numerous freshwater mussel species native to North America are listed as endangered, or threatened. Our laboratory is dedicated to understanding their basic biology, and supporting their conservation. Through the adaptation of contemporary veterinary diagnostic techniques, epidemiologic problem solving, and deployment of automated in-situ ecosystem monitoring devices we work to identify factors that pose a threat to their health, survival and reproduction.
