Plant Parts
In this section, we will learn the parts of plants. Plants have roots that anchor the plant in the soil and hold it in place. Roots also take in nutrients and water from the soil. The stem acts as a highway to move water and nutrients from the roots to other parts of the plant. Plants are called herbaceous or woody based on their stems. Herbaceous plants have soft stems that usually die back to the ground during the winter. Woody plants are tough and their stems do not die back to the ground.
Entry 11: In your Agronaut Log, list some plants that you think are herbaceous. What types of uses do these plants have? Now list some plants that you think are woody. What types of uses do these plants have? Compare your list with your classmates and teacher.
