Agricultural Law

ARE 306 explores current federal, North Carolina, and other law and regulation as well as the common law foundations of the legal system as related to agriculture. The course covers basic legal issues that students are likely to face in a wide variety of careers including agribusiness, farming and horticulture, agricultural science, forestry and others.

The course emphasizes the economic environment that has given rise to current laws and regulations. Substantive legal emphasis will be on laws having the greatest relevance in North Carolina, including farm program law, environmental law, contracts, real property, estate planning and insurance.
