Walnut Creek Urban
Wetlands Park
Master Plan |

| The Partners for Environmental Justice share a vision of a clean, healthy watershed that includes the urban wetland environmental education park and center, a Frog Maze (designed by a graduate student that is a native of Iceland), Hammond Pond, and an amphitheater. The 75 acres east of the park would be protected in its natural state. This would be the first urban wetland park in the Southeast. It could be a garden spot of peace and tranquility, a place for urban citizens and workers to escape to enjoy and learn about nature. It would provide native plants and animals the habitat they deserve. | |||||||||||||||

The main design concepts for the master plan are flood control, environmental education, recreation, and improvement of the water quality in Walnut Creek. Design elements include movement through changing environments, interior and exterior views, spaces for interactive play, and examples of cultural symbolism. |

"This is what drives me! Look at those cypress trees and this beautiful scene. I want everyone to care about this area and enjoy a clean, pure natural area. I could never be insensitive to this!" Dr. Norman Camp |
