CCMS Poetry about Walnut Creek Wetlands

Take a Closer Look
by Nikki Stephenson
The wetlands bask in their green splendor,
But take a closer look-
Cans here, plastic there,
Mountains of trash are everywhere.
Don't you want to look and see
Color of life, animals, fine greenery?
All thriving and bursting about, but no ...
Mountains of trash are everywhere.
What should we do? What should we do?
How can such amazing miracles
Be turned into poison and waster?
This beauty was given to us
And we've only given back disrespect;
Mountains of trash are everywhere.
Can we do what is right, or is it
Too late?
We do not deserve this treasure
Until we fight till the end
And conquer the mountains of trash.
Trash

The Spell
by Mike Janis
The spell refreshes its land but once a century.
We live in the spell
We work in the spell
The spell has us
The land has us
The spell is the land
Greenway View
The spell refreshes its land but once a century.
The land is the spell
The creatures are the spell
The beauty is the spell
We are the spell
The land holds the spell
The spell passes on with the land
Animal Tracks
The spell refreshes its land but once a century.
This life is the spell
We are the spell
We must guard the spell
The spell passes on with the land
Planting Trees
