Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management (PRTM) Alumni and Friends are everywhere!
In recent years, nearly 100 graduates annually have left NC State with PRTM degrees in hand to work in planning, administration, management, financing and marketing for resorts, environmental monitoring firms, travel and tourism companies, government and non-profit agencies, public and private recreational facilities, park systems, conservation organizations, nature centers, sports teams, marketing, management and event planning firms, university athletic programs and at many other places. Many professionals have taken our continuing education workshops or partnered with our research and extension programs.

The Role of Alumni
Alumni and friends of PRTM play an important role in the department's continuing success by participating in special events and programs, serving as guest lecturers, supporting the college’s fundraising efforts and encouraging future generations of students by identifying internships and other field opportunities for them.
When you designate your University gift to the Department, your donation goes directly to supporting PRTM initiatives. Please visit the College of Natural Resources Alumni & Friends site for more information on your many giving options. As a land grant institution, NC State is expected to serve the people of North Carolina by sharing knowledge and providing support services to local communities and government agencies. PRTM exemplifies this committment to the greater good through the many extension and outreach activities it makes possible each year. We welcome your input on ways to make the department even better. If you would be willing to speak to a class, conduct a tour, sponsor an event or you have some other great idea about how you can contribute, contact our department head, Dr. Dorothy Anderson.
Amazing Generosity
The generosity of our alumni and friends also enriches the Annual Fund each year, and has made the establishment of several special endowments and scholarships possible, including the Phil Rea Endowment, Dr. Roger Warren Endowment, Dr. Carol Love Merit Scholarship and the Lynn Phillips Davenport Scholarship for Freshmen. In order to honor their contributions and thank them for their generosity, PRTM sponsors a formal alumni and other donors program that includes a newsletter, luncheons, invitations to our annual department banquet and special award ceremonies, priority notification of continuing education opportunities and other events plus the awarding of an annual Outstanding Alumnus honor.
