Thousands of CARs across the South, defined in Southern Fire Risk Assessment on basis of vegetation, infrastructure, fire history and several other variables.

Communities at risk are typically defined as those at high risk of damage from wildfire in the wildland urban interface (WUI).

In 2008, 118,083 communities were identified as at risk across the 13 states in the SE. 17% of those communities were thought to be low risk, while 43% were assessed to be at high risk. These and other results can be accessed here: http://www.southernwildfirerisk.com/repo...South2.pdf

The Southern Wildfire Risk Assessment, a multi-year project to assess and quantify wildfire risk in the 13 SE states, has piloted a new approach to derive new community boundaries and Communities-at-Risk datasets. You can access that report here: http://www.southernwildfirerisk.com/down...Report.pdf
