A unique book in terms of its layout and organization. Emphasis is on diagnosis of all cucurbit diseases, with a section devoted to diseases and disorders of flowers and fruit. Contains 472 excellent color photographs and dozens of tables and line drawings. An essential reference for anyone interested in diseases of cucurbits.

Snowdon, A.L. 1992. Color atlas of post-harvest diseases and disorders of fruits and vegetables: Volume 2. Vegetables. CRC Press, Boca Raton.
This book covers many vegetable crops and spends a full 51 pages on postharvest diseases of cucurbits. It covers 21 main diseases, 10 minor diseases and 6 non-infectious disorders in surprising detail, including key references on each disease (53 excellent color photographs).

Zitter, T.A., Hopkins, D.L., and Thomas, C.E., eds. 1996. Compendium of cucurbit diseases. APS Press, Minneapolis.
One of the best in the American Phytopathological Society’s compendium series. There is a special section on preharvest and postharvest fruit rots covering 17 diseases. The quality of the color plates is variable, but generally good. Many photographs are too small. An essential reference for the cucurbit pathologist.
