Catananche caerulea 'Amor Blue'
Trial: Annual
Years Trialed: 2000
Good Qualities:
Color (2); Easy to establish; Attractive flower form, many flowers; We disregarded the flower as too wispy but the flower pods have an almost Mother of Pearl look to them, we used more of the unopened buds than the flowers.
Problems:
None; Timing; Hates life in the South (Zone 7a), looked so bad in the flat I didn’t bother to plant in field; Flower unmarketable; The flowers close up at night; All plants died; Didn’t germinate.

Comments:
Hope it overwinters here. (Zone 2); Week 34 flowering, variable timing; May be better second year; Better as a home cut but a novelty and not a prime cut; Hasn’t bloomed yet, slow growth.
