Catananche caerulea 'Amor White'
Trial: Annual
Years Trialed: 2000
Good Qualities:
Long stems, good weather tolerance; Lots of really short 6-inch stems; We disregarded the flower as too wispy but the flower pods have an almost Mother of Pearl look to them, we used more of the unopened buds than the flowers.
Problems:
Flower unmarketable, approximately 50% survival; Hates life in the South (Zone 7a), looked so bad in the flat I didn’t bother to plant in field; The flowers close up at night; Crop seemed to be under too much stress and faded out (Zone 5); All plants died; Some blue tips, late.

Comments:
May be better second year; Better as a home cut but a novelty and not a prime cut; Hasn’t bloomed yet, slow growth.
