Gomphrena 'Bicolor Rose'
Trial: Annual
Years Trialed: 1995
Good Qualities:
Color (5), held color well when dried (2), true bicolor (2), easily cultivated (2), easier to pick than purple and rose (the stronger stems tangled less), very vigorous plants, tolerated drought well, large heads, tremendous amount of blooms, good germination, long flowering time, lasted 8 days as an untreated fresh cut, seed had 90% germination.
Problems:
Almost too short to use in mixed bouquets, leaf blight late in season, stems sensitive to humidity after dried, hard to harvest, disease on foliage, unknown leaf spot, did poorly in greenhouse even though other cultivars did well.
