Helianthus 'Soraya'

Trial: Annual

Years Trialed: 1998

Good Qualities:

Great orange color (6); Nice size (6); Very sturdy stems (4); Upward facing blooms (2); Incredible black face; Beautiful flower; Clean and perfectly shaped; Stems a lot stronger than other multi-branching types; Worked well in bouquets; Easy to use in flower arranging; Continuous blossoms; Good keeping quality; Early blooming.

Problems:

Flower too big (3); Pollen drops after cutting (2); Stunted growth; Flowers small & rough shaped; Poor germination

Comments:

Similar to 'Sonja' but larger; Would love to have more seed; If these were pinched, would they produce multiple branches?; This sunflower always sold first, by itself & when put in bouquets. Lots of comments on the great orange color; I'll definitely try this one again next season; First of all Helianthus to bloom. Pick before fully open for longer vaselife.
