Nigella orientalis 'Transformer'
Trial: Annual
Years Trialed: 1996
Good Qualities:
Tall stems (4); Good flower color (3); Interesting/beautiful seed pods (2).
Problems:
Poor planting conditions in spring caused immediate flowering. Difficult to really judge.; For this area it is a close race to gain a mature plant in the length of season available. The harvest of this plant was done at the very last opportunity of the season.; I need to fall plant Nigella. These plants were tortured.; Did not germinate in the field - cool, wet spring.

Comments:
A healthy and easy to grow plant but for locations this far north it is risky venture, though the plants held up well through the first early snowfall and managed to rebound to reach maturity.; Taller than other Nigellas.
