Phlox paniculata 'Red Eyes'
Good Qualities:
Year 1:
Nice, bright; Large flower head size; Good sturdy plant; Long lasting.
Year 2:
Excellent color (3); Very large heads, good stems, Very sturdy plant.
Problems:
Year 1:
Need more stems per plant; Did not tolerate heat well (Zone 6).
Year 2:
The flower heads were so big that I had to use the side shoots; Didn’t do well in our full sun and heat.

Comments:
Year 1:
Should overwinter well; Hope they will be taller next year; No flowers as of September 30 (Watsonville, CA); Florist enjoyed working with all phlox varieties. Plants in California did not flower in the first year.
Year 2:
The plants never got very tall and the flower heads were so short and big that they were almost useless; Designers really like using this.
