As you are all aware there has been an extreme shortage of rabies serum over the past several months. In mid July Student Health Services was able to acquire a supply of rabies serum. Since we received this supply, an even firmer and more restrictive mandate from the CDC has come down.

Now no serum can be used for pre-exposure again and post exposure use must be cleared through the Veterinary Public Health program.

With the current clinic we have used all the serum we are allotted for pre-exposure so once again there is no serum available for pre-exposure series from Student Health. We have set aside a few doses in the event of any low titers drawn at the September clinics. As the attachment states there is no forecast date for when these restrictions will be removed.
