Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school and two years of visual/graphic arts experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NC State RIF candidates from grade 67 or higher have reinstatement priority.
This position is at the Advanced level.

Departmental Required Skills:
-Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Dreamweaver, MS Office Suite, Web browsers (cross-platform)
-Ability to create compelling, user-centered visual design concepts for interactive Web sites and other on-line publications, optimizing the use of screen layout and user interface elements.
-Ability to visualize information and communicate ideas effectively.
-Demonstrated ability to design meaningful, influential user experiences.
-Experience working in higher education or at an agency with a record of marketing/public relations work for clients with multiple audiences and many products.
-Ability to contribute to the creation of prototypes at different stages of development (paper, wireframe, functional prototypes).
-Strong interpersonal skills and tactfulness.
-Strong English written/verbal communication.
-Online portfolio including at least three web sites or applications applicant was directly responsible for developing.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training / Education:
-Graduation from a two year technical college with a major in graphic arts or design and at least five years of experience in design, photography, new media or video production OR graduation from a four year college or university with a major in graphic arts or design or a related field such as marketing, communications, computer science or journalism with at least three years experience in design, photography, new media or video production. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for required education.
-Traditional art skills.
-Must be able o work with team members and clients to understand their goals and objectives.
-Balance multiple projects and work effectively as part of a creative team from concept to delivery.
-Able to work in a close team effort where ongoing collaboration among team members and various interconnecting projects is a must.
-Able to work under pressure, allocate time effectively, take direction and give feedback in a constructive manner.
-Able to focus on aesthetics as much as user-interface, information architecture, and useability.
Essential Job Duties:
This position will work within a strategic web unit that defines and evolves the university’s online presence. The position will have regular interaction with creative staff in University Communications as well as web and communications staff throughout the university. The will report to the Director of Web Communications. This position is responsible for providing web and user experience design for the central university website (www.ncsu.edu) and strategic, core brand university sites, mini-sites and on-line marketing communication efforts and other multimedia presentations. In addition, the Web designer position may be asked to assist in production of video and multimedia to be used on the central web site and other places.
