Natural Learning Design Institute hosts Design for Early Childhood: Health, Play and Learning

Registration is open for the 9th Annual Natural Learning Design Institute’s Design for Early Childhood: Healty, Play and Learn taking place on October 6-7, 2011 at the NC Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The Design Institute, presented by the Natural Learning Initiative at the College of Design, is an interactive event that combines presentations and outdoor hands-on activities. The program offers innovative ideas and concepts for participants to implement back home.

Presentations will include highlights on the importance of contact with nature and examples of state-of-the-art nature based play and design programs.

Outdoor hands-on activities will be organized at the grounds of the Botanical Garden over the two-day session and participants should come prepared to learn innovative ways to entice preschool physical activity, to see examples of how the designed environment engages children in outdoor play, and to see the many ways outdoor activity supports healthy development.
