Anni Albers Scholar Wins December 2011 ITMA Cover Competition

Anni Albers Scholar and Art + Design senior Anna Gatlin garnered first place in the International Textile Market Association Showtime’s cover design competition. Gaitlin’s design will be featured in the upcoming December 2011 issue of the “Showtime Directory & Guide” which is published twice a year and is distributed to nearly 6,500 industry executives around the world.

The International Textiles Market Association (ITMA) is a non-profit business association which promotes members of the association and their professionalism along with a fair working environment.

The theme for this year’s competition was based on current trends in home furnishings. Gaitlin said, “Both quilting and indigo are in the air trend-wise, so I decided to resist-dye cotton fabric in a gridded pattern in order to reference quilting. Then, I manipulated the resulting image on the computer [to create the cover].
