Two College of Design projects highlighted in 2010-2011 Annual Sustainability Report

By DAVID DEAN, Sustainability Outreach Coordinator

The Campus Environmental Sustainability Team is pleased to announce the release of the 2010-2011 Annual Sustainability Report.  The report  recognizes the substantial advances that NC State is  taking as a campus community to make sustainability an integral part of our educational and research mission, our campus culture, and our business decisions.

Where is sustainability happening at NC State? The answer is everywhere. A concept once thought of as existing within a small community and having a finite scope is indeed growing and expanding each and every day. From operational efforts to increased efficiencies by staff to the growth and diversity of sustainability related academic programs to student initiatives to educate and involve others; sustainability is all around us.

Additionally, Chancellor Woodson’s acceptance of the Sustainability Strategic Plan (SSP) is proof that we have the administrative support necessary to make the goals set forth in the plan a reality. As successes continue to grow, there is need to shift the method of tracking and reporting on the advancement of sustainability at NC State. In future years, the format of Annual Sustainability Report will be modified to serve as the reporting mechanism for the tracking of metrics and activities related to the SSP.

Appreciation is due to the various members of the campus community who contributed by providing information and highlights about sustainability initiatives on campus. We invite you to share in the celebration of sustainability successes at NC State by viewing the full report here: http://sustainability.ncsu.edu/resources/publications-media
