Instructions for installing DesignPRINT printers on your own computer running Windows 7 Professional.
There are four DesignPRINT servers, each with different printers. DesignPRINT printers are distributed among these servers. The addresses for each server and the printers available on each server are:
Click on your Windows button (known as the Start button in previous Windows versions) and then click on Computer. In the window’s address bar, type the address of the print server as shown below, with \\ before the server name.
You will next be asked to log in to each server. Log in with your Unity ID and password. Be sure to put WOLFTECH\ in front of your Unity ID, as shown below. For example, if your Unity ID was joeblow, you would log in with WOLFTECH\joeblow. Do not click on Remember my credentials. That can cause trouble later when you change your password.
You will then be presented with a list of printers available for installation on the server. Right-click on each printer you want to install and click Connect… as shown below.
When prompted to allow the printer driver to install, click Install driver as shown below.
Allow the installation process to complete and do not cancel the process. Printer installation can take up to two minutes depending on network usage.
The printer will now be listed under Device and Printers in the Start/Windows menu and in the Print dialog for different applications.
Repeat this process for each printer you need to add.
You must have DesignPRINT quota to use these printers. You may purchase DesignPRINT quota at http://des-print.sod.ncsu.edu/ using a credit card. Log in there using your Unity ID and password. Click on Add Credit on the left column and fill in the forms provided.
You can also see details about your usage on the DesignPRINT system at http://des-print.sod.ncsu.edu/.
You may request a quota transfer between the College of Design’s DesignPRINT system and the University’s WolfPrint system by clicking here. Quota transfer requests do not happen immediately. They must be received and processed manually. Please plan ahead.
If you have any problems, please contact the College of Design IT Staff at email@example.com.
