More than a third of NC State's overall faculty — including members from all NC State colleges — pursue teaching, research and extension activities related to the environment. They are engaged in efforts to enhance sustainability, understand the links between energy and the environment, provide forecasts of global climate change, and find ways to better conserve and manage natural resources. Through their efforts, NC State maintains college-based environmental programs as well as joint college centers devoted to a variety of specialty fields.
