The Renewable Energy Summer Camp is a one-week day camp that inspires middle grades girls and boys to pursue careers in engineering, science, mathematics, or technology. Priority will be given to students completing their 8th grade year in middle school. During this summer experience,campers will engage in hands-on activities, participate in career and college exploration activities, experience field trips or tours, and learn about FREEDM Systems Center research laboratories.
Students selected for this camp will pay the cost of their transportation to and from the camp location. The NSF FREEDM Systems Center will sponsor the cost of fees and lab supplies for the one-week program.
- Alamance-Burlington dates: June 11 - 14, 2012.
- Florida State/FAMU dates: June 4 - June 8, 2012.

You must be 13 years old or older to register on our website. If you are under 13 years of age and wish to apply for this program, please download and print out the application form, the parent/guardian permission form, and the principal endorsement form, and send it to your local site coordinator (fax preferred or US Mail).

Before filling out our online application form, please make sure you know the mathematics, science, and technology classes you plan to take in the fall.Also, please make sure you have answers to the following questions ready:
A statement of why you wish to participate in the Renewable Energy summer camp
Explain what makes you the best candidate for the Renewable Energy camp. Describe a favorite activity, lab or project you completed during this school year that relates to science, mathematics, engineering, or technology. Give an example of working in a group during this school year: how did you contribute to the group and how was it successful and/or frustrating. What fields of engineering, science, mathematics, or technology are you interested in and why? (250 words).
Online applications are being accepted until March 30, 2012.

- Endorsement from your teacher or principal
This letter is to ensure administrative support for your participation. You may ask your mathematics, science, or technology teacher to sign, your counselor, or your principal. You may download this endorsement form to print and sign.
- In addition, you may be asked to send a copy of your latest report card as part of your application.
