The VIEWPORT command allows you to create different windows in which you can view a drawing or model. The various views can have different orientations to a model showing Front, Top, Right Side, Isometric, etc. views of the same model.


To access the VIEWPORT command you can:

type vports at a Command: prompt

OR

select Viewport under the View menu

OR

select a viewport on the Viewport Toolbar.

NOTE: The Viewport toolbar can be displayed by selecting it on the Toolbars... dialogue box located under the View menu.


Specifying the number and location of viewports:

—Prompt: Command: Type vports and press Enter.
The Viewport dialogue box will appear. Select the number of viewsports you need.
—Prompt: Specify first corner or [Fit] <Fit>: Use an Osnap or coordinate to indicate the location of one corner of a viewport.
—Prompt: Specify opposite corner:
Use an Osnap or coordinate to indicate the opposite diagonal corner that will contain the viewports.


Specifying the size of an image in a viewport:

NOTE: If you wish to size a view in a viewport, the technique will vary depending on whether you are in MODEL or PAPER Space.

—In MODEL Space:

Click in the viewport to make it active it you have more than one viewport.

Select the size on the Viewport toolbar (see above) or use a ZOOM XP function.

—In PAPER Space:

Click on the edge of the viewport to select it.

Select the size on the Viewport toolbar (see above).
