The DIAMETER dimension command allows you to place diameter dimensions on circles or arcs (arc should be more than 180 degrees).



To access a Diameter dimension you can:

select Diameter under the Dimension Menu,

OR

type dimdia or ddi at a Command: prompt,

OR

click on the Diameter dimension button on the Dimensioning toolbar.


--Prompt: Command: Type dimdia and press Enter.

--Prompt: Select arc or circle: Click on the edge of the arc or circle.

--Prompt: Dimension text=<dimension value>: AutoCAD indicates the diameter of the selected feature. Press Enter to accept.

--Prompt: Dimension line location (Mtext/Text/Angle): Click the mouse in the location where you wish to locate the dimension and press Enter.

*NOTE: if you wish to add text to the dimension, select the Mtext option at this prompt and then press Enter. See Tutorial 6 for detailed directions for using the Mtext option.
