When you create an image map you can link different parts of an image to separate destinations. To do this you will need to assign hotspots to the image. Hotspots are areas on an image map that viewers can click to open different URLs. In Claris Home Page you will only be able to select areas of an image in the shapes of rectangles or circles. This limits what types of images you can use for image maps. Other programs allow you to draw specific areas that are not in any regular shape, such as on maps.
On your home page you have inserted the image, children.jpg. We will create a hotspot that will take a viewer to the page child.html when it is clicked.
Double click the image and the Image Object Editor will appear. Click Edit beside Client-Side Image Map. The Client-Side Image Map Editor will open. Choose either the rectangle tool or circle tool and select one of the faces in the photo. You will now type in the URL of that document that will take the viewer to the information about that child. (child.html)
Close the image editor. When you return to your document click the preview button and check to be sure your hotspot works.
