Selfless Service Reaps Reward

To fully appreciate the impact Linda Williams has had on the state of North Carolina, you need to understand that she has served as a mentor to more than 1,000 social work students over the past 30 years.
These students, all graduates of NC State's Department of Social Work, are now involved in addressing children's welfare and other social services issues throughout the state – from child protective services to work with older adults.
So it should come as no surprise that the 4,000-member North Carolina
Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) named her
the state's Social Worker of the Year earlier this month.

NC State invites runners and dog owners to compete in the 13th annual Dog Day Race charity event on Saturday, April 5, at the NC State University Club, located at 4200 Hillsborough St. in Raleigh. The event features a 5K run for people only and a two-mile walk for people with their dogs. The 5K run begins at 9 a.m. and the two-mile walk begins at 10 a.m. Visit www.runnc.com to download a registration form. The race is sponsored by the College of Veterinary Medicine's student chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Proceeds from the event go to the Wake County Animal Shelter.
