Selfless Service Reaps Reward

To fully appreciate the impact Linda Williams has had on the state of North Carolina, you need to understand that she has served as a mentor to more than 1,000 social work students over the past 30 years.

These students, all graduates of NC State's Department of Social Work, are now involved in addressing children's welfare and other social services issues throughout the state – from child protective services to work with older adults.

So it should come as no surprise that the 4,000-member North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) named her the state's Social Worker of the Year earlier this month.
