Campus Buildings to Undergo State Inspections
The state construction office will conduct on-site facilities condition assessments of all NC State buildings during the next six to eight weeks. Three state inspectors, accompanied by NC State facilities personnel will be visiting buildings at different times, and at different locations, Mondays through Fridays, generally from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The assessments will analyze HVAC systems, electrical systems, and architecture. Although building liaisons won't be notified prior to their building's inspection, individuals who have specific concerns are asked to contact Bob Ferrel at bob_ferrel@nscu.edu.
Summer Construction Projects to Impact Parts of Campus
Varsity Drive Lane Closure at Centennial Campus Entrance
Contractors will be working at the Centennial Campus entrance on Varsity Drive through July 31 on an entrance beautification project. One traffic lane will be closed throughout the project, and traffic will be shifted from one side of the road to the other, depending on the work. Pedestrian access will still be available, but may also shift from one side of the road to the other.
Stinson Drive Summer Road Closure
Stinson Drive will be closed through the summer from just past the information booth to the Current Drive area for a new road alignment. Some road elevation issues near Poe Hall will also be resolved. The work is scheduled for completion by Aug. 14. Gates will be open to allow access from Hillsborough Street and Yarbrough Drive. Parking will still be available in the Riddick Lot, but parking permits will continue to be enforced. All visitors are advised to park in the Coliseum Deck pay lot. During the Stinson Drive closure, Wolfline route three, engineering and the route seven Wolflink shuttle will be detoured (see note below).
The "B" parallel parking spaces on Stinson Drive between Broughton Drive and Polk Hall will be unavailable through Aug. 16. The spaces on the north side of Stinson Drive (Polk Hall side) are being converted to make a wider, accessible pedestrian walkway with new lighting, trees and landscaping. The parallel "B" spaces on the south side (Broughton Hall side) will be used to maintain a traffic lane.
Stinson Drive Project to Detour Wolfline
Wolfline buses will be detoured off Stinson Drive during the construction project between Poe and Leazar halls. The detour affects two Wolfline routes – Route 3 Engineering and Route 7 Wolflink Shuttle. During the detour, The Route 3 Engineering bus will turn around at the Pullen Road roundabout and pick up at Brooks Hall. The Route 7 Wolflink Shuttle will detour via Founders Drive with no service to stops on Yarbrough Drive or Stinson Drive. For more information, check the Transit Visualization System (TVS) system Web site, or call 515-3424.
Park Shops Project
Approximately eight "B" parking spaces on the west side (Daniels Hall side) of Current Drive will be unavailable due to a project to mount air handlers at Park Shops. Current Drive will remain open during the project.
Pedestrian Traffic Detour Near D.H. Hill Library
Pedestrian traffic will be impacted near D.H. Hill Library during a patio project through Aug. 13. West side stair access from the Brickyard to D.H. Hill Library will be closed during the project. A pedestrian detour is located along the north/south path between the library and Scott Hall. The library atrium will also be closed between summer sessions from June 23 to July 4.
Dan Allen Deck Lighting Upgrade/Pay Lot Expansion
Some parking in the Dan Allen Deck will be affected due to a lighting upgrade and expansion of the pay lot. The Dan Allen Deck pay lot may be closed for some portion of the expansion work.
Coliseum Deck Pay Lot
The Coliseum Deck pay lot rate will change for the summer to $1 per hour or $2 for the day.
