Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings is the Kellner Family
Chair of Urban Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is the 2004-2005 President-Elect
of the American Educational Research Association. Dr. Ladson-Billings'
research interests include the relationship between culture and
schooling, culturally relevant pedagogy, the successful teaching
of African American children, and critical race theory.
Dr. Patricia
F. Campbell is an Associate Professor in the Department
of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Maryland, College
Park. She has worked on systemic reform in elementary mathematics
within the Baltimore City Public School System. Dr. Campbell's
scholarship and research addresses issues spanning the teaching
and learning of elementary mathematics, professional development,
and instructional change.
Dr. Beatriz
D'Ambrosio is an Associate Professor in the School
of Education at Indiana University-Indianapolis. She recently
served as a member of the Research Committee for the National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and she was formerly a co-principal
investigator for the Indiana Mathematics Initiative, and an evaluator
for the LSC: Making Mathmatics Reform a Reality in the Middle
School of the University of Rochester. Her research interests
include the study of the complexities in the preparation and in-service
of k-12 mathematics teachers, examining socio-cultural issues
in mathematics education, and supporting teachers to engage in
action research.
