Pre
Law Services at NC State offers, to those seeking information
regarding law school and the process of applying to law school, guidance,
information, and support. The
adviser works directly with current students and alumni as they, research
this field of study; make decisions regarding LSAT preparation, develop
their interests regarding law school; engage in decision making about
schools to consider; and coordinate and manage the application process.
The coordinator advises the Pre Law Students Association and supports this
group to develop specific pre-law programming. All workshops are designed for interested students as a place to research
their interests and decide if law school is the right direction for

Fall 2008 Meeting Schedule Pre-Law Services and the
Pre-Law Students Association(PLSA)
This
fall most PLSA meetings will be held in the Student Senate Chambers 2nd floor of the Witherspoon Center (#81) unless otherwise noted. September 15th Meeting will be held in 321 Riddick. The place, time and date of all other events will be listed here or
on the meeting schedule as they are announced. Positions available at local Law Firms: Interested persons should review the pdf documents and contact the law firms directly. Howard, Green and Moye Raymond Taylor Lynch and Eatman - position filled Alternative Service Breaks All students who are interested in participating in one of the CSLEP'S (Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service) Service events this year must complete their registration by September 18th. Most meetings will be held on Monday evenings, at 7:00pm, in Student Senate Chambers, Witherspoon Center 2nd Floor, be sure to check the exact information listed under each event.
Sometimes there is a room change. In that case students on the Pre-Law email listserve will be notified of any last minute changes, but all students should check the website before a meeting for updates. Anyone wishing to become a member of the Pre-Law Students Association may do so at any meeting. Monday, August 25 - The Law School Application Process: Academic Integrity and Misconduct. A panel consisting of Paul Cousins, Director Office of Student Conduct, Pam Gerace, Student Legal Services and Lewis Hutchison, Assistant Dean of Admissions, Campbell Law will provide students from first year to Seniors information about the implications of these issues in their academic career and as they apply to law school. Room currently is Student Senate Chamber, 2nd Floor Witherspoon, 7:00pm- 8:15pm
Monday, September 15 - Annual Showcase of All North Carolina Law Schools.ROOM CHANGED TO 321 Riddick, Building # 39
Students attending from other institutions must RSVP to Pre-Law Adviser.
The law schools will offer information unique to their schools and then will address the group with details on creating oneself into a strong law school candidate. The information is as important for first year students as for those who are about to enter the application process.
Monday, September 22- How to develop yourself as a strong candidate for Law School. Student Senate Chambers 2nd floor of the Witherspoon Center (#81)
This session is extremely useful for any student considering law school as the next step after graduation. The session is directed at the skills, knowledge and strategies needed to develop a oneself as an excellent candidate. Very important for first and second year students and transfers. If you have not met with the Pre-Law adviser this session will guide you through planning your academic and personal plans.
This session will be offered in the Honors Commons Building on Tuesday,October 28 at 4:00pm for those who cannot come on Monday evening.
Thursday, September 25 - Constitituion Day,
301 Riddick Hall, 5:00pm-6:00pm Roger Newman, Professor of Journalism, Columbia University will address the topic: Civil Liberties, Surveillance, and Terrorism.
Tuesday, October 21 - Annual Inter-Institutional Law School Fair The fair is open to all interested students within the NC State and surrounding community. Although law school pre-register, those attending will register the day of the event. Information can be found under Inter-Institutional Law School Fair. Monday, October 27, 7:00pm"What Do Attorneys Really Do?" A panel of attorneys from a variety of fields of law, some NC State Alumni, will offer their insights into their profession. Areas of Law currently represented on the panel includes: Intellectual Property, Family Law, Trial/Civil Litigation, General Practice, Corporate, and Aviaion Litigation.

Monday, November 17, 7:00pm Student Senate Chambers, Witherspoon Center. Legal Writing: How is what you do as a 1L different from what you are doing now in your undergraduate classes? Bryan Boyd, Campbell Law School faculty member will teach a class in Legal Writing. Homework will be assigned before this class and you will be asked to respond as though you were in your law school, so be prepared.

- Council on Legal Education Opportunity
(A Thurgood Marshal Legal Educational Opportunity Program) The Council on Legal Education Opportunity, offers a wide variety
of programs throughout the year for pre law students beginning from
the time they enter college until the time they are ready to attend law
school. Students are encouraged to visit the CLEO site and review the
many programs designed to provide information and strategic planning for
law school. Many of these programs provide information on LSAT preparation,
navigating the Application Process (ASAP), learning about law schools
and what skills are needed to be both a successful candidate and a law
