Summary
The Sheriff's office takes a proactive
role with wildfire suppression. They have a county Fire Team and a Fire
Warden. The American Red Cross piloted a wildfire mitigation program doing
wildfire mitigation public education and outreach. The focus is to deliver
wildfire preparedness and hazard mitigation education in the wildland urban
interface (WUI). They do private property home mitigation assessments and
promote defensible space work. CSFS has a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist
position that focuses on coordinating federal, state and county mitigation
efforts with public mitigation work. All of the players in wildfire suppression
and mitigation have built strong relationships and coordinate their work
well.
