2-1.7.1 ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM

The College Entrance Examination Board provides for college level work during the high school years through the Advanced Placement Program.  The final examination is graded by selected high school teachers and college instructors, and grades are forwarded to the student’s prospective college.  (Scores are: 5-very well qualified; 4-well qualified; 3-qualified; 2-possibly qualified; 1-no recommendation.)  NC State teaching departments accept the College Entrance Examination Board Advanced Placement scores in art history, studio art, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, English, government and politics, history, mathematics, music, foreign languages, latin, physics, and psychology.  Credit and/or advanced placement is usually given for scores of 3, 4, or 5.
