Advanced placement in chemistry is granted through the College Entrance Examination Board Advanced Placement Program. Students with a grade of 3 on the Advanced Placement Examination will be given credit for CH 201 and CH 202 after achieving a B or higher in CH101 and CH102. Students with a grade of 4 on the Advanced Placement examination will be given credit for CH201 and CH202 automatically with no requirement on CH101 and CH102 performance. Students scoring a 5 on the Advanced Placement examination will be given credit for CH 101, CH 102, CH 201, and CH 202.
Eligibility for CH 101: Students who have completed one year of high school chemistry with a grade of C or better and are eligible for math placement into MA 107 or higher may register for CH 101. Students who have not completed one year of high school chemistry with a grade of C or better should register for CH 111 (Preparatory Chemistry) to assure they have attained the proper chemistry background for successful completion of CH 101. Students who are not eligible for MA 107 or higher should delay registering for CH 101 until they have achieved sufficient placement in math.
