2-1.7.11 PLACEMENT IN READING
Students with Scholastic Aptitude Test verbal scores below 370 (or an American
College Testing Composite score of 16 or less) are required to take ECI
185, Introduction to Academic Discourse and Learning during their
first year. Note: International students are exempt from the requirement.
Students will be given the option of testing out of the course on the first
day of class; however, students may not receive credit for ECI 185 by examination
only. The course is open to all students (on a space available basis) who
are interested in improving their abilities to read, write, and think critically
in academic contexts.
