2-1.8 INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM
Students may also receive credit for college level work completed in high
school through the International Baccalaureate Program. This program began
overseas and is now also offered in some school systems in the United States.
This program is quite similar to the Advanced Placement Program, and credit
is awarded following the same procedures. Credit is awarded for scores
of 6, or 7 on the International Baccalaureate Program Higher Level exams
only. NC State teaching departments accept the International Baccalaureate
Program Higher Level scores in the following subjects: biology, chemistry,
computing studies, economics, English, foreign languages, world history,
mathematics, organization and management studies, philosophy, physics,
psychology, and social anthropology. (See Advanced
