8-9 ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES

The Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA) provides academic and personal instruction and support services to assist student-athletes in their efforts to succeed in college.  These services are especially focused on the first year student, who may need early assistance in adjusting to the demands and challenges of the university environment.
Services offered by the ASPSA include an orientation course to college, academic and personal counseling, monitoring of academic progress, tutorials, and the Stroud Wolfpack Study Center.  These services are available to all student-athletes.
ASPSA academic coordinators work closely with the student's academic department as well as with athletic department officials to monitor the progress of each athlete and provide guidelines to athletes and coaches.  (See Appendix N for academic coordinators of advising)
