UNIVERSITY GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
Each year the University, with the support of the Alumni Association, recognizes its outstanding teaching assistants who have been nominated by their departments.  The Graduate Student Association sponsors this annual program for outstanding TA's who are recognized at an awards reception where they are presented with certificates of merit.   Twenty top students receive a $100 monetary award.

UNDERGRADUATE OUTSTANDING TEACHING AWARDS
Faculty who have been teaching five semesters at NC State are eligible for nomination to the Academy of Outstanding Teachers.  Each year, approximately 17 faculty members are recognized as Outstanding Teachers.  All colleges have an Outstanding Teacher Selection Committee which seeks input from students, faculty, administrators and alumni.   Four of the nominees are selected by student representatives from the college committees to receive monetary awards of $1,000 each which is provided by the Office of Alumni Relations.

ALUMNI DISTINGUISHED UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSORSHIPS
Faculty who are members of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers are eligible for nomination for an Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professorship.  Each College Selection Committee submits two nominations to a screening committee composed of: the Provost, chair of the Faculty; chair of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers, chair, Evaluation of Teaching Committee; chair, Executive Committee of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers; Vice Provost, Undergraduate Affairs, President, Student Body, and the Executive Director & Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations.  Six Professorships valued at $3,000 per year for a period of two years are awarded yearly by the Office of Alumni Relations for outstanding undergraduate teaching.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS’ AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING
The Board of Governors’ Award Program for Excellence in Teaching is established to recognize sustained excellence in teaching.  It is funded by The University of North Carolina Board of Governors.  Selection will be by a process which identifies a Board of Governors’ nominee from each of the ten degree-granting colleges and the selection from among these nominees of the Board of Governors’ awardee for the University.  The selection process will occur in parallel with the already-established Outstanding Teacher and Alumni Distinguished Professor selection processes (which are open to untenured as well as tenured faculty members).  Eligible faculty for the Board of Governors’ Award will have tenure and will have been teaching at NC State for a least seven years. A monetary award of $650 provided by the Board of Governors, will accompany the recognition of each of the ten college awardees, and a monetary award of $7,500 will accompany the recognition of the University awardee.
