The first annual campus-wide King Commemoration, held on January 15, 2003, was sponsored by the Office for Diversity and African American Affairs and the Black Students Board. This program was designed to unite the campus community in celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Diverse members of the campus community came together to reflect on Dr. King's message of hope for the human race. The featured speaker was Ms. Yolanda King, daughter of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. Ms. King's remarks provided a powerful reminder about the importance of keeping her father's dream alive.
