Freshman Advancement Seminar - USC 101D/102D NC State University is committed to a diverse campus wherein all students, faculty and staff are able to pursue their academic interests in a stimulating, encouraging, positive environment. One measure of success is the number of diverse students, faculty, and staff that are an integral part of the campus fabric. Another measure is the successful participation and graduation of undergraduate students, particularly those from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The Freshman Advancement Seminar USC 101D/102D is a one credit hour two-semester course that teaches transitional and study skills during the fall semester and critical thinking skills in the spring. 1998 data showed that students who successfully completed both USC 101D/102D, when compared to students who completed neither course, earned a .5 higher cumulative grade point average.
