Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When are abstracts due?

Abstracts are due on February 25, 2008. Please submit two copies of your abstract along with two copies of the Abstract Cover Sheet (see Forms and Documents). Also, don't forget to submit an IBM formatted disk or CD with the abstract in word, wordperfect, or ASCII (text) format with the print copies. Make sure disks are virus free! Abstracts should be no longer than 180 words. Please make sure it meets the APA Publication Manual standards.

When do I find out if my paper is accepted?

Letters of acceptance/rejection are generally sent out within 2-3 weeks of the abstract deadline. Your paper cannot be accepted if it is a literature review. Additionally, evidence that the data has already been collected and analyzed is key to your paper's acceptance.

How do I register?

Your school will be sent copies of the registration form in early Spring. The form is also available on the Forms and Documents page. Preregistration is $10 if postmarked by March 29, 2008. Registration postmarked after that date and registration at the door will be $15. Preregistration fees are not refundable.

What should I wear?

The Friday night Social is a casual event. Although some faculty may be coming to the social from the office and may still be dressed in professional attire from their day at work, please realize that jeans are perfectly appropriate for the social. However, the conference is a professional conference. Therefore, professional dress is appropriate for all attendees on Saturday.

What do I do during my paper presentation?

Paper presentations are allotted 15 minutes of time on the program. This allows you about 10 minutes to make a presentation of your experiement/project. This generally allows enough time to briefly touch on the introduction, methods, results, and discussion with approximately 2-3 minutes for questions. Use overheads rather than notecards. We will be equipped to accomodate PowerPoint presentations. We recommend that students have their presentation with them in multiple media formats, such as USB flash drive, CD, and on a web email account. Handouts for the audience that describe your project in more detail are a nice addition to your presentation, but are certainly not required.

When do we get a copy of the program?

Programs will be given out on April 4th and 5th during registration. We regret that we cannot let you know earlier when you will be presenting. We look forward to seeing you there!
