Brief Overview of the School Psychology Program at NC State

The NC State School Psychology Program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (Committee on Accreditation http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation; 202 336-5979) and is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The Program is comprised of two phases. Completion of Phase I results in a MS degree leading to Level II school psychologist licensure in North Carolina; completion of Phase II results in a PhD degree and leads to North Carolina Level III school psychologist licensure. Graduates are also eligible for licensure as health services provider psychologists in North Carolina and other states, as well as for the nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) credential. Students admitted to the Program are expected to complete Phases I and II; those seeking only Master's level training are encouraged to apply to other programs. Program graduates are employed as psychologists in public schools, diagnostic centers, and research and academic institutions.
